  • Porto - City Tour (1 day)

If you only have one day to explore Porto, it's essential to plan your itinerary well to make the most of the time available. Here is a suggestion for a 1-day city tour in Porto:

    Morning:

Breakfast in Ribeira: Start the day with a delicious breakfast in one of the charming cafes or bakeries in Ribeira. Enjoy the unique atmosphere and views of the river as you prepare to explore the city.

Cruise on the Douro River: Take a boat trip on the Douro River to see the city from the river's point of view. This tour offers breathtaking views of Porto's historic shores and iconic bridges.

Visit to Port Wine Cellars: After the cruise, visit one of the famous Port wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Learn about the history and production of Port wine and enjoy a tasting.

    Afternoon:

Lunch at Ribeira or Vila Nova de Gaia: Choose one of the riverside restaurants to taste the delicious local cuisine. Both areas offer great options for lunch and rest before continuing the tour.

Dom Luís I Bridge: Cross the Dom Luís I Bridge on foot, to enjoy panoramic views of the city of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.

Palácio da Bolsa: Visit the Palácio da Bolsa, a historic building with impressive architecture and rich interior decoration. Be sure to see the famous Arab Room.

Igreja de São Francisco: Explore the Igreja de São Francisco, one of the most important Gothic churches in Porto, known for its ornate façade and surprisingly extravagant interior.

    In the late afternoon:

Livraria Lello: Take the opportunity to visit the famous Livraria Lello, with its dazzling red staircase and magical atmosphere. Note that there may be queues, so try to visit at a quieter time.

Clérigos Tower: Climb the Clérigos Tower to enjoy panoramic views of Porto. It's a climb, but it's worth it for the incredible views.

    Night:

Dinner at Foz do Douro: Round off your day with dinner at one of the restaurants in the Foz do Douro area, where the river meets the sea. Foz has a pleasant atmosphere and offers a variety of dining options.

This is an itinerary suggestion to make the most of your 1-day city tour in Porto. There is of course much more to see and do in the city, but this route includes some of the main highlights and must-sees. Remember that Porto is a charming city, and there is always something new to discover around every corner!
